A Scottish couple has claimed the amazing £161 million (185 million euros) EuroMillions jackpot after it had rolled over 14 times! This astonishing jackpot is the biggest lottery prize ever won in the United Kingdom and the biggest EuroMillions jackpot ever won!

The couple from Largs, Ayrshire immediately made their entry onto the UK’s rich list when they scooped the £161 million prize on Tuesday.

Chris and Colin Weir from Largs, Ayrshire, have two children and plan to spoil them and to travel around the world. They realised that had won the jackpot after the draw on Tuesday July 12 and could not sleep all night because they were so excited about winning such an amazing prize. They had to wait for the UK National Lottery helpline to open the following morning to report the claim and confirm the final amount.  That’s when they were told that they had in fact banked the entire EuroMillions jackpot of £161,653,000! They were the only lottery players with the exact match for the winning combination of five numbers and two lucky stars. The winning numbers were 17, 19, 38, 42 and 45, and the Lucky Stars were 9 and 10.

They did not choose to remain anonymous and plans were made to unveil their identity at a hotel in Scotland the following Friday. It was an opportunity for the press to ask questions to the couple about their intentions and to find out how they plan to spend the money. It was also an opportunity for the National Lottery staff, family and friends and the lucky couple to celebrate and open a few bottles of Champagne.

The couple have been married for 30 years and have two children. They plan to buy a house for each of their children and to move into a bigger house for themselves. They also plan to buy a new car and travel around the world. They were having a normal evening at home on Tuesday until they checked the EuroMillions results. Since then, it has been a rollercoaster of emotions.

The couple, who have both had serious health conditions in recent years and been unable to work, are looking forward to a new life of luxury and expensive hotels. The lottery jackpot means that they are now 430 on the UK’s rich list, just a step below David and Victoria Beckham.
